2025-2026 Scholarships

The PHS Boosters are pleased to be awarding scholarships for the 52nd year to deserving members of the Palatine High School graduating class of 2026 wishing to further their education. 

New!  Our selection criteria have been updated to also recognize students who will choose diverse various paths towards furthering their education and future careers.  A total of 16 scholarships will be awarded in 2026.

The One Love Foundation will award one (1) $1,000 scholarship from the Choi family.  

Background:

The One Love Legacy Foundation Scholarship honors Steve Choi, uncle of PHS graduates Caleb (2018) and Abigail (2020) Choi. The Choi family has been deeply involved in the Palatine High School community through sports, activities, and the PHS Boosters Club, where Jean (Steve’s sister-in-law) served as co-president for three years and led multiple committees. The family is committed to supporting students from marginalized and under-represented communities at PHS, which is the mission behind the OLL Scholarship.

Selection Criteria:

Student from underrepresented racial or ethnic backgrounds

First-generation college students (attending either certified trade/vocational school, 2 year community college, or 4 year college/university) 

Students with significant socioeconomic barriers

Students contributing to or engaged in marginalized communities (must be addressed/explained in the essay)

Charlotte M. and Robert C. Donahue Millennium Scholarship will award two (2) $1,00 scholarships.

These scholarships were donated by PHS alumni, Andy and Patrick Donahue, in honor of their parents, the late Charlotte and Robert Donahue.

The Class of 1979 Legacy Scholarship will award one (1) $1,000 scholarship.

The PHS Booster Club traditionally awards twelve (12) $1,000 scholarships in honor of Fred Zajonc.  Mr. Zajonc was a community leader, a village trustee, and longtime member and past president of the Booster Club who worked tirelessly to generate parent and community support on behalf of Palatine High School.

Six of these scholarships will be awarded to seniors who have demonstrated leadership, academic excellence, service, and volunteerism at PHS and in the community.  

The other six will be awarded to seniors who are choosing to attend a trade/vocational school/apprenticeship program or community college program.

Minimum Applicant requirements

        Must be attending a 4 year college/university, 2 year community college or a certified trade/vocational school or apprenticeship program 

        Minimum 2.0 GPA.  If the applicant has less than a 2.0 average, but has extenuating circumstances, please respond to the relevant form question with an explanation.

Selection Criteria

As stated above scholarships will be divided to reward diverse future education/career paths.

Scholarships will be presented on April 22, 2026, during the Academic Awards Night in the PHS auditorium.
